Let's Go Monotone: 5 looks, 1 shade.

So something I've been loving lately, and also something I've been seeing a lot of are monotone eyeshadow looks. Which is where, basically, you use one eyeshadow and that's it. I mean you could use one or two shades from the same colour family, or a matte and shimmer version of the same colour, but you get my point, it's one shade all across the lid. And it's so simple, yet still versatile I thought I'd show you a few variations on the monotone eyeshadow looks that I've been loving lately.

1. Editorial.

Not for the faint of heart, but if your bold and love making a statement with your makeup then this might be for you, sweeping your single shade across the entire lid, then blending upwards with a clean blending brush gives that smokey effect, for my eyes I also blend on an angle towards the outer corner of my eye (look below, you'll see what I mean.) Also blending underneath the eye and re-connecting it with your upper lid gives that dramatic/editorial look. And it's been one of my faves.

2. Matte vs Shimmer.

So the first thing I do for this look is use the matte shade as my crease or "transition" colour. Then with a damp brush I go in with my shimmer shade across the lid. The point of this is that the two shades should be pretty much the same, but if you're not into this style then you adapt the technique to mix any shades... it's all in good fun.

3. Extended liner.

Alternatively to an actual eyeshadow look, you can use one shade as a liner, any shade, have fun with it, be creative, and the good thing about using shadows is that you can leave it as a sharp line (pref with a damp liner brush) or you can soften the edges slightly and make it more soft and gentle.

4. For your lids only.

Literally put the shade of your choice on your lids, blend out the edges and you're done. Probably the easiest makeup look you'll ever do in your entire life....

5. I can see your Halo.

Pretty similar to the Matte vs Shimmer look, although instead of just placing the matte in your crease you'll bring it down into the inner eye and increase the depth of the shade to create the "halo" effect, then you can place your shimmer shade or a lighter shade into the centre. Layering is key with this look... so is blending.

So there we have it, 5 looks, 1 shade and endless possibilities. Will you be recreating any of these looks? Do you like the monotone style? Let me know in the comments, and if you want more in depth video tutorials of any of these looks then let me know in the comments x

And I'll see you tomorrow with another post x

MY TOP 5 LIPSTICKS

Lipsticks and lip products are a whole new arena for me, I don't know why but they had just never really appealed to me, and I had stuck with the same one for years. But in recent months I have somewhat broadened my horizon and tried out a few new lip products and I'm slowly trying out new shades. So here are my current top 5 lipsticks I've been loving over the past few months.

#5. Beauty Pie - In the Nude.

This is a warm toned brown with a satin finish, some may call it a "nude" but I'm not a massive fan of that term, mainly because I consider my nude to be something that looks like my own lip colour and this isn't it. But enough about "nude" politics, this is a lovely shade, and is really nice paired with a simple or smokey eye.

#4. Rosie Huntington-Whitely LOL

In my quest to try new shades, this blue toned pink-red is something I've had to grow to like and it's because it's something completely different to anything I've ever tried before. I was someone who thought I wouldn't suit a red tone but I actually really like this colour on me.

#3. MDM Flow - Bossy.

This is a lighter version of the Beauty Pie lipstick with a matte finish, it applies really smoothly and it's one I've been going back to more and more over the last few month.

#2. Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit - Pose.

You'll be noticing a theme with my lip colour choices... I've been liking brown tones. This is a more pink toned matte brown that literally doesn't move once you've put it on. Well after a while it does, but it has pretty good staying power and it's one of my most used among my collection. (The other lip kits shades are good too but this is my personal favourite)

#1. Kate Moss for Rimmel - Rosetto.

Remember when I said I had used the same lipstick shade for years. Well this is it. I have literally bought about 5 of these in the past few years and it's one I'll be repurchasing until they discontinue it's which if they do I'll probably cry. This is my version of a nude lipstick, or a "my lips but better".

So 5 lipsticks I've been loving. What shades are you loving right now?

New Beauty Buys | MAY 2017

Since I've been away for a month, I've amassed somewhat of a collection of things I've bought and I thought it would make a nice post for you to sit down and read/look at with a nice cuppa and maybe a biscuit... please have a biscuit I can't anymore so let me live vicariously through you.

So just to get them out of the way; I got my monthly Glossy and Look Fantastic boxes, which I have since cancelled....I need to save money and if you want a post on how I'm planning on doing that then let me know in the comments.. because in this day and age who doesn't need to save a little money?

I also made a little TAM beauty order.. which if I'm completely honest I wasn't too impressed with, but hey, you live and you learn.

Here's what I bought.

Beauty Bay was another little purchase I made. Mainly because my bank was offering me cash back on my purchase, which is really helpful for a poor girl like me, but I picked up three things and I've already binned one of them... choices people.. choices.

I also bought some lights which you will have seen in the backgrounds of my videos lately, or maybe in some of my pictures. But if you can get you're hand on them then go get them, for the price I was seriously impressed.

I've also been making a few clothing purchases lately, but if you want a separate post for that then let me know, but I'm no fashion blogger so don't expect those pretty pictures under a blossom tree.  And that is all for now x
